Search Tips
The most important tip to remember...You don't have to enter information in every field. Enter the minimum amount of information that will give you a result. Use the following guidelines:
1. Last Name Enter either the full last (maiden) name if you know how it's spelled, or a portion of it if you don't. For example: entering "John" (without the quotes) will return all names that have "john" in them (John, Johnson, Pettijohn, etc).
2. First Name This field is optional. If you enter a first name and it isn't spelled correctly you will not find the person.
3. Spouse This field is optional. If you want to find information and you know your friend's married name enter it here.
4. Nick Name This field is optional. You may not remember the correct spelling of someone's name, but you might remember their nickname! Try searching with a combination of nickname and graduation year.
5. Graduation Year This is the best way to start searching. Enter the year you graduated from high school. It doesn't matter where you went to school as this search will return the full list of people who are in the same age group as you. You might even find someone you forgot about! UPDATE 5/15/02: Now sets a range of 4 years! Enter the first year and the results will show that year plus the next 3.
6. City If you want to see if there are other Military Brats living in your city enter it here.
7. State
Same as city...find out who lives in your state. Try variations such as TX and Tex for Texas, VA and Vir for Virginia. You don't have to enter the entire state name.
8. School or Base Locate others who went to the same schools or lived on the same bases as you. It's best to enter only a portion of a school name when searching, in case of spelling errors and other variations. For example: Ft. Bliss could be entered as Fort Bliss...so just enter Bliss and you will get more responses...or, Zweibruecken might have been spelled incorrectly, so just enter Zwei.
9. Joined Since Date: Enter a date here as shown in the example to see who has joined since you last checked. It works great when you enter either a graduation year or a portion of a school or base name!
Good luck! Be sure to send email to the Webmaster if you find your long lost friends!
