In Memory of Tom ClinardTom Clinard, who created a wonderful website for Governors Island, New York, died in Dunnellon, Florida, on 20 January 2005, just 10 days shy of his 69th birthday. His many Governors Island and email friends extend their deepest condolences to his wife, Margaret, his daughters Kathy and Lisa, and his sisters, Barbara Vickers and Patricia O'Connor. He was predeceased by his son, Thomas Guy Clinard, and his first wife, Evelyn. Thomas Mcclurkan Clinard, Jr., was the proud son of Msgt Thomas M. Clinard, Sr., whose military career and photo were featured on the Island website. That career began in 1927 and ended with retirement in 1966. In the Military Brats Registry, Tom jr. listed his Governors Island years as 1949-1952, followed by Nagoya High School 1952-53, finishing at Yokohama American High School 1953-54. Whereupon Tom followed more or less in his father's footsteps, serving in the US Air Force from 1 November 1954 until 2 January 1975. Tom, thanks again for bringing so many friends together, and helping us relive so many happy moments in our lives.
